Some Trump supporters have expressed displeasure with Swift’s selection, citing a baseless conspiracy theory that the singer is part of a Deep State operation to promote the Democratic Party in 2024. In 2020, a similar claim that Trump was the magazine’s person of the year also turned out to be false, as President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris were actually named people of the year. Time magazine has a list of all the people who have been named person of the year dating back to 1927. The post on Facebook has been shared more than 400 times in two days, and many commenters took the post to mean that Trump had been named the magazine’s 2023 person of the year. Overall, the post is missing context and is spreading false information.
