Esuaue Montis, Judes’ brother, narrowly escaped the same fate as his brother when he encountered armed gunmen but was spared after a phone call from a friend. The senseless violence has prompted fear and uncertainty, with Esuaue now considering fleeing Haiti due to safety concerns.
Despite the horrific incident, the U.S. Embassy is working to repatriate the bodies of the Lloyds to the United States, while Missions in Haiti has relocated its staff to a safer location. The Haitian National Police have condemned the killings, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice, although challenges persist due to the prevalence of gang control in the country.
The tragedy has drawn attention to the ongoing violence in Haiti, where criminal organizations hold significant power and often operate with impunity.
