A man was shot and killed by police following a stabbing and a pursuit that ended near Cincinnati Music Hall. Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge stated that officers pursued the suspect until he crashed near the intersection of 12th and Elm streets. The suspect was armed with a firearm and when officers encountered him, they repeatedly commanded him to drop his weapon. The stabbing victim was in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the chase and the subsequent shooting, with one witness describing it as something out of a movie. The suspect allegedly pointed his gun at officers, leading them to shoot him in self-defense. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 69 President, Ken Kober, defended the officers’ actions, stating that they had followed their training and protected lives by shooting the suspect. The investigation into the incident, including the stabbing that had occurred earlier, was in the preliminary stages. The area was cordoned off for hours as police conducted their investigation. The incident has sparked discussions about police tactics and the use of deadly force.
