The Wyoming Department of Transportation has successfully reopened Wyoming Highway 22-Teton Pass to live traffic after a three-week closure due to a landslide. WYDOT officials worked with contractors, stakeholders, and congressional delegates to quickly complete the necessary repairs. The temporary detour has safely reconnected communities and will remain in place while engineers plan the reconstruction of the impacted highway section. The goal is to have Teton Pass completely rebuilt before the onset of winter. WYDOT director Darin Westby emphasized the importance of infrastructure like mountain passes in connecting people to essential services. Evans Construction and Avail Valley Construction were commended for their swift work on the detour and landslide cleanup. The Wyoming Transportation Commission approved emergency funding to support the reconstruction efforts. Congressional delegates from Idaho and Wyoming assisted in securing emergency federal funding for the project. The Idaho Transportation Department also provided support in cleanup efforts. WYDOT officials expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to the successful reopening of Teton Pass.
