Five tornadoes have been confirmed in western Pennsylvania by the National Weather Service during severe storms on Wednesday, with no human injuries reported but a beloved miniature horse belonging to a Penn Township family being killed. The EF-2 tornado caused damage in the area where the family lives, with winds reaching up to 115 miles per hour and destroying everything in its path. The family’s 16-year-old horse, Jack, had to be euthanized after getting struck and trapped by a downed tree.
Darla Cynkar, the horse’s owner, described Jack as a bright spot in their barn, noting his playful and inquisitive nature. The family had only recently welcomed Jack to their farm, where he lived alongside other animals they had taken in over the years. Despite their grief over losing Jack, the Cynkars expressed gratitude for the support they received from neighbors and local animal rescue groups.
The family shared that they find joy in offering animals a second chance at life, reflecting on the happiness that comes from providing a home for those in need. While they mourn the loss of their horse, they are relieved that no one else was harmed in the storm. The community has come together to offer assistance and comfort during this difficult time for the Cynkar family, who are left to remember the cherished memories they shared with Jack.
