The Wyoming Aviation Heritage League (WAHL) is hosting their first annual Wyoming Aviation Festival at the 1960 Cheyenne Airport Terminal. The festival, in conjunction with Wyoming Aviation History Week, aims to preserve the aviation history and heritage of Wyoming. The week will kick off with the Commemorative Air Force squadron bringing WWII era aircraft, including the B-29 Bomber “Fifi”, which will be open to the public for tours and rides. Governor Gordon will lead a proclamation ceremony on August 16th to commemorate Wyoming History Week. Vintage aircraft from the area will be on display throughout the weekend, including presentations on various topics in aviation history. The old terminal will be open for tours, with representatives available to provide information. The festival will also feature a raffle, activities for kids, food trucks, and seating for guests. The goal of the festival is to raise awareness of Wyoming’s aviation heritage, attract new members to WAHL, and raise funds for the refurbishment of the terminal. WAHL is collaborating with the Cheyenne Regional Airport and the Arts and Aviation Center Steering Committee to make the festival a success. Conceptual drawings and information about the terminal’s future use will be available for viewing. The festival promises to be a fun and educational event for aviation enthusiasts and the local community.
