Russia launched one of the largest aerial barrages in months, targeting Ukraine’s central region of Kyiv. However, Ukraine’s air force successfully repelled the attack, shooting down 89 drones and one missile. While some buildings were damaged, no casualties were reported. This was the seventh drone attack on Kyiv in July, with residents seeking shelter in metro stations overnight.
Meanwhile, Russia has begun drills to practice deploying tactical nuclear weapons, with President Vladimir Putin suggesting the country could use nuclear weapons in extreme situations. Russia accuses the US and its allies of pushing the world towards nuclear confrontation by providing weapons to Ukraine. Russia considers a German ammunition factory being built in Ukraine a legitimate target for military action.
In response, Ukraine targeted a weapons and military equipment storage facility in Russia’s Kursk region, with air defenses destroying four Ukrainian missiles. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides accusing each other of targeting civilians and critical infrastructure. The situation remains tense as both countries engage in military actions, raising concerns about the possibility of a larger conflict.
