Simone Biles and Suni Lee are set to face off in the women’s gymnastics all-around final in Paris, making history as the first Olympic champions to compete against each other for a repeat title. The event will take place at Bercy Arena on Thursday, with Biles and Lee aiming to continue the U.S. dominance in the all-around competition. The final will be broadcast live on NBC, USA Network, and E! as well as streaming on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms.
Biles, the reigning world champion, topped the qualifying round standings followed by Rebeca Andrade and Lee. With Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour, Italy’s Alice D’Amato, and China’s Qiu Qiyuan also potential medal contenders, the competition is expected to be intense. Andrade closed the gap with Biles in the team final, setting the stage for a competitive showdown in the all-around final.
Both Biles and Lee have previous Olympic success, with Biles winning gold in Rio in 2016 and Lee clinching the title in Tokyo in 2021 after Biles withdrew. The top 24 gymnasts from the qualifying round will advance to the final, with each gymnast competing on all four apparatuses. The gymnast with the highest overall score, factoring in execution and difficulty, will be crowned the all-around champion.
If Biles or Lee wins, they will join a prestigious group of repeat Olympic all-around champions, solidifying their status as gymnastics legends. The competition promises to be thrilling as Biles seeks to secure her second nonconsecutive all-around title and Lee aims to defend her Olympic crown.
