Musk’s Political Action Committee offers $47 incentives for referring swing state voters to sign petition

Elon Musk’s pro-Trump America PAC is offering people $47 to get registered swing-state voters to sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments of the Constitution. This initiative to financially encourage voter registration in support of Donald Trump appears to bypass laws against paying individuals directly to vote by instead paying referrers of registered voters. Musk and America PAC have been vocal about promoting swing-state voter registration. The offer was widely shared on Musk’s social media platform, X.

The America PAC, previously associated with Musk’s X platform, has promoted the pro-Constitution petition and swing-state voter registration. Despite its controversial tactics, including collecting personal data under the guise of voter registration and being investigated for misleading voters in Michigan and North Carolina, America PAC has spent over $77 million so far, primarily in support of Republicans and against Democrats.

Dr. Richard Hasen, an election law analyst, notes that Musk has not broken any campaign finance laws and is within his free speech rights to support Trump through X. However, Hasen questions the high payout offered by America PAC and the implications of such financial incentives for voter registration. The PAC continues to hire individuals to increase voter registration and turnout in swing states, reflecting its commitment to supporting Republicans in the upcoming elections.
