The Casper Historic Preservation Commission has announced that the Wyoming National Bank building and its iconic clock tower will be featured on this year’s annual Christmas ornament. The limited edition ornaments, of which only 500 will be produced, will be available for purchase at the Fort Caspar Museum starting November 1 for $20 each.
The building, constructed in 1964 and designed by renowned architect Charles Deaton, has a rich history as the former Wyoming National Bank. After changing ownership several times, the property was eventually purchased by Diane and Joseph McGinley, who have since restored the building and now operate multiple businesses from its space, now known as The M Building.
This marks the second year of the commission’s annual ornament series, with last year’s ornament featuring the Natrona County High School building. The selection of the Wyoming National Bank building was made by popular vote on the CHPC’s Facebook page.
The commission hopes that these annual ornaments will continue to highlight Casper’s rich history and architectural significance. With the release of this year’s ornament, Casper residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to take home a piece of the city’s heritage and support the preservation efforts of the CHPC.
