Ravi Menon has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the newly established Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The GFTN aims to harness technology and foster innovation through global partnerships to create more efficient, resilient, and inclusive financial ecosystems. Mr. Leong Sing Chiong and Mr. Neil Parekh have been appointed as Deputy Chairmen, while Mr. Sopnendu Mohanty will serve as the Group Chief Executive Officer of GFTN starting February 1, 2025.
The GFTN will focus on enhancing global connectivity for impactful innovation in financial services and strengthening Singapore’s position as a global FinTech hub. It will consist of four strategic businesses: GFTN Forums, GFTN Advisory, GFTN Platforms, and GFTN Capital. These businesses will aim to drive synergies within the global finance and technology communities, create economic value and social impact, and unlock sustainable and inclusive pathways for communities worldwide.
The GFTN’s Board of Directors will be guided by an International Advisory Board comprising globally recognized leaders committed to the public interest. More details about the BoD and IAB will be announced at the Singapore FinTech Festival on November 6, 2024. Mr. Menon expressed his vision for GFTN to strengthen Singapore’s global connectivity and role as a FinTech hub, while Mr. Mohanty emphasized the importance of addressing the evolving requirements of the global FinTech ecosystem through innovation, digital platforms, and capital investments.
The GFTN, established in 2024, is a not-for-profit organization aimed at leveraging technology and fostering innovation for more efficient and inclusive financial ecosystems.
