In an impressive display of dominance, No. 18 Florida claimed the ESPN Events Invitational championship with an 88-51 victory over Wichita State. Walter Clayton Jr. led the charge with 19 points, while Alex Condon added 17 points and Rueben Chinyelu contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Gators improved to 8-0 with their stellar performance, shooting nearly 45 percent from the field and stifling Wichita State’s offense. The Shockers, previously unbeaten, struggled to find their rhythm as they were held to under 30 percent shooting by Florida’s length and quickness. Matej Bosnjak led Wichita State with 11 points off the bench, but it was not enough to overcome the Gators’ dominant performance.
Florida’s 27-point run, spanning both halves, set the tone for the game as they nearly doubled up Wichita State on the glass and took advantage of second-chance points. The Gators’ control of the paint and fastbreak opportunities proved too much for the Shockers to handle. With this victory, Florida showcased their strength as a team and their ability to shut down top opponents.
