Meghan Markle has requested a three-month extension for her lifestyle brand, ‘American Riviera Orchard’, after her initial trademark filing was denied in September by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The USPTO stated that geographic names must be left free for all businesses operating in the same area, meaning there can be no exclusive claim to the name. Meghan’s application for extension is pending, and if denied, she will have to start the entire application process again.
In addition to the issue with the brand name, USPTO also noted that more details were needed for certain products, such as cooking utensils and napkins, to clarify their categorization. Meghan first teased her brand back in March with a promotional video showcasing her love for cooking, baking, and gardening. This venture seems to revive her old lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she shut down after becoming a senior member of the royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex also filmed a show for Netflix celebrating cooking, gardening, entertainment, and friendship. She has started sending products from American Riviera Orchard to her close friends, including a beautifully packaged jar of jam. Meghan’s interest in lifestyle endeavors signals a potential return to her passion before marrying Prince Harry. Additionally, she has launched The HELLO! Royal Club dedicated to covering all things royal, offering exclusive insights, interviews, and interactions for fans.
