The second-ranked UConn basketball team is looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the Maui Invitational as they prepare to face Maryland Eastern Shore this Saturday in Hartford, Conn. The Huskies went 0-3 in Hawaii, losing to unranked opponents Memphis, Colorado, and Dayton. Coach Dan Hurley acknowledges the team’s struggles and the need to regroup both mentally and defensively. Forward Alex Karaban suffered a head injury in the last game against Dayton, putting him in concussion protocol. Despite his absence, Karaban has been a key scorer for UConn this season. Guard Solo Ball has also been a consistent offensive contributor. Meanwhile, UMES is looking to improve after a recent loss to Little Rock, with coach Cleo Hill Jr. emphasizing the team’s need to address defensive and offensive issues. With a four-game losing streak, UMES faces a tough challenge against UConn. The Hawks will have to focus on fundamentals and better ball movement to compete with the Huskies. The upcoming game is expected to be a test for both teams as they strive to make a comeback from recent setbacks.
