A new 130,000-square-foot indoor sports complex, the WYO Sports Ranch, has opened in Casper, Wyoming, following 18 months of construction and a $52 million investment. The facility features state-of-the-art amenities such as video boards, a concession kitchen, a training gym sponsored by Banner Health, and multiple courts and playing fields. Already, the complex has hosted events like a volleyball club, high school basketball team practices, and a youth basketball tournament with over 60 teams and 543 athletes.
The project was spearheaded by visionaries like Trudi Holthouse, president of the McMurry Foundation, whose late parents, Mickey and Susie McMurry, were longtime philanthropists in Casper. Board treasurer Jessica Hastings mentioned that the facility has so far booked 38 events out of a goal of 50 for the year. The grand opening was attended by various community members and officials, including former Wyoming Gov. Mike Sullivan.
Joe Legerski, retired University of Wyoming Cowgirls basketball coach and WYO Sports Ranch board member, highlighted the community support that helped make the facility a reality. He noted that the complex’s impact will be felt for generations to come, as families will be able to point to their contributions in building the facility. Overall, the WYO Sports Ranch represents a major milestone in providing top-notch athletic opportunities for the Casper community.
