Three transfers signed by Wyoming Football on Monday

The University of Wyoming football team has been busy with recruiting, bringing in a dozen prospects over the weekend and expecting another transfer to visit midweek. Head coach Jay Sawvel has already managed to secure commitments from three of these players, including defensive back Jaden DeCosta, edge rusher Brayden Wilson, and wide receiver Eric Richardson.

DeCosta, a former three-star recruit, comes to Wyoming from Portland State with impressive stats from last season. Wilson, an All-Big Sky honoree from Weber State, has proven himself as a standout defensive end. Richardson, a wide receiver from Northwest Missouri State, has shown his skills both catching passes and as a deep threat.

Sawvel has expressed a preference for bringing in players from smaller programs who are eager to join the team and contribute, rather than those with a sense of entitlement. This philosophy has led to a turnover in the roster, with eleven players leaving the program since the winter portal window opened, and ten officially entering the transfer portal.

The coach’s goal is to assemble a team of individuals who are fully committed to the program and eager to work hard both on and off the field. The transfer portal will close on December 28, and Sawvel is focused on finding players who will embody the University of Wyoming’s brand of football.
