Wyoming, Michigan celebrated Women’s History Month by highlighting three remarkable women who made history in the community. Kimberly Koster became the first female Public Safety Chief in 2018 after joining the Wyoming Police Department in 1996 and advancing through several roles. Lacey Koens broke barriers in 2002 as the first full-time woman firefighter at the Wyoming Fire Department and now serves as Wyoming’s Safety and Risk Supervisor. Jamie Fleming made history in 2024 as the first woman superintendent at the Wyoming Drinking Water Plant after 21 years of service for the city. These women have made significant contributions to Wyoming, with Koster also serving on a state commission, Koens winning the Chief’s Excellence Award, and Fleming chairing a section of the American Water Works Association. The City of Wyoming expressed gratitude for the special contributions these women and staff members make daily. Their achievements continue to inspire others and promote gender equality in historically male-dominated fields.
