A SpaceX crew capsule recently arrived at the International Space Station, bringing replacements for NASA’s two astronauts who have been stuck there for nine months. The four newcomers from the U.S., Japan, and Russia will spend time learning from the current astronauts before heading back in a SpaceX capsule later in the week. The Boeing Starliner capsule, which was supposed to bring them back, encountered problems and had to return empty, leaving the astronauts behind. The arrival of the new crew members was met with hugs and handshakes, and they will spend the next few days familiarizing themselves with the space station. The return trip for the current astronauts was delayed due to repairs needed on their replacement capsule, pushing their return to mid-March. The SpaceX capsule carrying the current astronauts is scheduled to undock from the space station and splash down off the coast of Florida, weather permitting. In the meantime, there will be 11 people on board the station, representing the U.S., Russia, and Japan.
