The Wyoming Governor’s Big Game License Coalition has announced it will allocate $1.5 million for wildlife conservation projects in the state. The funds were generated through the sale of complimentary big game licenses in 2024. A total of 73 projects benefiting the committee’s five priorities, including elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, moose, and all wildlife, will be funded. These projects include habitat improvements, conservation easements, research, and efforts to facilitate wildlife movements across roadways.
Governor Gordon praised the coalition for their efforts in raising money that directly supports conservation projects. The coalition, comprised of Wyoming-based wildlife conservation organizations and Game and Fish, sells Governor’s complimentary big game licenses each year, with proceeds dedicated to wildlife conservation. Participating organizations include the Mule Deer Foundation, Muley Fanatics Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Wyoming Wild Sheep Foundation.
The coalition, which has funded nearly $15 million in conservation projects since its formation in 2003, was commended for its collaborative funding model and ability to leverage funds to support conservation in Wyoming. The coalition’s efforts have garnered widespread participation from top-notch conservation groups in the state and continue to make a significant impact on wildlife conservation efforts.
