Wyoming’s football team granted running back Grayson Rigdon a release from his national letter of intent in mid-January, and has now found his replacement in Patrick Broadway II. Broadway announced his commitment to the Cowboys on social media, becoming the third scholarship player to join the program during the signing period. A 5-foot-11, 200-pound product from Fulshear, Texas, Broadway chose Wyoming over several other schools and had an impressive 2024 season, rushing for 2,134 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was named the District 20-6A Offensive MVP and was a finalist for Texas 6A Running Back of the Year.
Broadway joins defensive tackle Gabriel Ikechukwu and Cedar Park edge rusher Jason Handy as part of Wyoming’s recruiting class. The Cowboys also secured a commitment from walk-on long snapper Charlie Houston from Texas. With the addition of Broadway, Wyoming now has four new running backs on the roster, including junior Terron Kellman from the NCAA Transfer Portal, and freshmen Jaden Lawrence and Samuel “Tote” Harris.
Wyoming plans to add additional portal players when the spring window opens, aiming to trim the roster to 105 players this offseason. Spring practice is set to begin on March 25 in Laramie. The team’s coaching staff, along with a panel of experts, recently compiled a list of the top 50 football players to have played for the University of Wyoming, highlighting the impact of these athletes during their time in Laramie.
