Special Olympics Wyoming (SOWY) is gearing up for the 2025 State Winter Games in Jackson, with over 350 athletes, coaches, families, and cheerleaders from across Wyoming preparing for the event from February 25 to 27. The public is encouraged to attend the competition in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, and Cross-Country Skiing.
The games will be held at various locations in Jackson, including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Jackson Hole High School, Snow King Resort, and the Elks Lodge. The Law Enforcement Torch Run will kick off the event on February 25, with Wyoming law enforcement personnel escorting delegations into the Opening Ceremony.
The Opening Ceremony and the Parade of Athletes will take place at Jackson Hole High School on February 25, where all participants will gather to introduce the teams and recite oaths. Volunteers are being sought to assist with timing, scoring, awards, and more during the games.
The Torch Run and the State Winter Games not only showcase the athletic talents of Special Olympics athletes but also aim to raise awareness and funds for SOWY. Wyoming law enforcement will continue to carry the Flame of Hope during various legs of the Torch Run.
With competition times and locations set, SOWY is excited to bring together athletes, volunteers, and the community for a celebration of courage, diversity, and sportsmanship at the 2025 State Winter Games in Jackson.
