Getting Your Aquatic Invasive Species Decal in Wyoming

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has implemented new changes for AIS decal requirements and inspection locations for anyone planning to use a floating device on Wyoming waters. If you pass an inspection location, you must stop for a quick inspection, especially if you are from out of state. There are various inspection locations around the state, including border check stations, certified inspection locations, WGFD regional offices, and private inspection locations.

One location that has seen changes is the Glendo State Park and Reservoir, with the check station moving from the town of Glendo to Bennett Hill boat ramp early in the season and later to Whiskey Gulch. The hours of operation are Thursday to Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For questions, contact the Casper Region Office at 307-473-3400.

AIS decals are required for motorized watercraft, hard-sided watercraft, and inflatable watercraft over 10 ft long. The cost of the decal varies depending on residency and type of watercraft. It is important to follow the clean, drain, and dry philosophy by checking and removing any visible plants, animals, or mud from the boat, trailer, and equipment.

Additionally, Glendo State Park offers excellent Walleye fishing in May, and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has shared spring photos in their photo essay “Rejuvenation.” Interested individuals can subscribe to Wyoming Wildlife for more content like this.
