Two or more fatalities reported as storms sweep across the South to the Northeast


Two people, a 12-year-old boy and a woman, were killed in Oklahoma after their vehicle was swept under a bridge during a severe storm that brought large hail and strong winds. The Moore Police Department in Oklahoma conducted a water rescue involving two vehicles stranded in floodwaters, but were only able to rescue two occupants after one vehicle was swept away. The storm also brought severe weather reports, including unconfirmed tornadoes in Texas and powerful thunderstorms in Maryland. On Easter Sunday, the storm system is expected to move east, threatening 11 million people in Arkansas, St. Louis, and Illinois with damaging winds, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and tornadoes. The National Weather Service warned of the possibility of strong winds, large hail, and tornadoes in Missouri and Arkansas. Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued across Arkansas and Missouri, and the threat of flooding continues from Texas to Illinois. Over 100,000 utility customers were without power in the South and the Northeast as of Sunday morning.
