Cheyenne’s East Lady Thunderbirds Triumph Over Central Lady Indians in Rivalry Softball Showdown

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – In a highly anticipated rematch, the East Lady Thunderbirds reclaimed dominance over the Central Lady Indians with an 8-4 victory in a thrilling softball rivalry game. Following a staggering 23-13 defeat to Central earlier in the season, East came out firing on all cylinders.

The Thunderbirds wasted no time, taking an early 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks to explosive hits from Rylee Stephenson and McKenzie Millar, both of whom blasted home runs over the fence. Millar continued her strong performance with a two-RBI homer in the third, extending East’s lead to 5-0.

Central struggled at the plate, recording their first hit only in the fifth inning. They finally found their rhythm in the sixth, scoring three runs highlighted by Ivy Waszkiewicz’s RBI single and a double from Izzy Thomas.

However, East’s defense held strong, with Stephenson striking out two batters in the final inning, sealing the win. Millar led East with an impressive 3-for-4 performance, including two home runs, while Stephenson contributed with a home run and 10 strikeouts as pitcher.

“It was a good feeling to win after the hard loss last time,” said Millar, reflecting on her team’s resilience. Both teams are set to host new challenges: East takes on Wheatland, and Central faces Torrington on May 9, aiming for redemption in their next outings.
