Press Release: Wyoming Reads Celebrates 27th Anniversary in Casper
CASPER, Wyo. — The Nicolaysen Art Museum is set to host the 27th annual Wyoming Reads celebration on May 20, welcoming first graders from various Natrona County schools. This beloved event, made possible through a partnership with community organizations like the Sue Jorgensen Library Foundation and the Natrona County School District, aims to distribute over 900 books to local students.
Divided into two groups, first graders will participate in engaging sessions from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Highlights include readings by notable figures, such as First Lady Jenny Gordon, and a theatrical performance of “The Good Queen Sue,” penned by John Jorgensen. The day offers a unique opportunity for many children to experience their local library and museum for the first time.
A selection of titles this year features a variety of engaging stories, including “Buffalo Fluffalo” by Bess Kalb and “Moo Hoo” by Audrey Perrott, among others. “Wyoming Reads is our favorite day of the year,” said Chelsea Troutman of the Natrona County Public Library. “You can feel the energy and excitement the moment the buses pull in.”
In preparation for the festivities, South Beech Street will be closed between East 2nd Street and East Collins Drive to ensure the safety of participants. The event promises to be a day of joy, discovery, and a love for reading.
