Pakistan Reports Indian Missile Strikes on Three Air Bases

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated dramatically, following a recent gun massacre in Indian-controlled Kashmir that left 26 civilians dead. India attributed the attack to Pakistan, leading to heightened military confrontations. On Saturday, the Indian military launched missile strikes on three bases in Pakistan, specifically targeting the Nur Khan base in Rawalpindi, Murid air base in Chakwal, and Rafiqui air base in Jhang. Pakistan’s army spokesman, Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif, stated that while most missiles were intercepted, some struck various areas, including Indian Punjab. Sharif labeled the missile launch a significant provocation and claimed that a few missiles fell into Afghanistan.

In response, Pakistani media reported retaliatory strikes targeting multiple locations in India, although specific targets were not disclosed. Sharif assured that Pakistan’s air force assets remained secure amidst the strikes. Meanwhile, Indian military officials indicated that drones had been spotted over 26 locations in states along the Pakistan border, confirming active surveillance and engagement efforts.

The situation intensified after India conducted airstrikes on alleged militant sites in Pakistan on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 31 civilians, according to Pakistani officials. Pakistan has denied conducting drone attacks, despite India’s claims of successfully targeting Pakistan’s military defenses. The current standoff reflects a broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed rivals, which has been recurrent since the April 22 attack in Kashmir. Both countries maintain a keen vigilance on military activities, with neither side willing to back down, amid escalating rhetoric and military actions on both fronts.
