Local Academic and Activist Finds Path in Wyoming
Jordan Uplinger, a New Jersey native with a diverse background in aviation, video editing, and political science, has embarked on a remarkable journey through various states since 2013. His academic pursuits and work experiences have spanned Oklahoma, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, culminating in a transformative stint in Wyoming.
In 2021, Uplinger joined the Wyoming Conservation Corps (WCC) as a member of AmeriCorps, where he dedicated his efforts to environmental services and community enhancement. Following this impactful season at WCC, he expanded his engagement with the community by working with Feeding Laramie Valley, a non-profit organization aimed at alleviating food insecurity in the region.
Uplinger’s interests in the intersections of class, identity, and American politics have fueled his passion for social activism and community service. His intellectual curiosity eventually guided him to an internship at Wyoming Public Radio, where he could merge his interests in political discourse with real-world applications. This experience later led to full-time employment at the radio station.
