Sordoni Secures Democratic and Republican Endorsements for New Judge Position in Wyoming and Sullivan Counties – Wyoming County Examiner

Attorney Nina Sordoni Secures Nomination for New Judge Position in 44th Judicial District

Exeter Township, PA – Attorney Nina Sordoni has officially earned the nomination from both major political parties for the newly established position of second judge in the 44th Judicial District, based on unofficial election returns from the recent primary held in Wyoming and Sullivan counties. This strong showing positions her favorably for the upcoming November 4 election, where she will be featured on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.

The second judge role, created by the Pennsylvania state Legislature in December 2023, aims to address family law and civil matters, complementing the responsibilities of President Judge Russell Shurtleff, who will oversee criminal cases. Sordoni, a partner at SDS Family Law Group and a resident of Exeter Township, focused her campaign on her family law expertise, a passion she expressed during her candidacy.

In the unofficial results, Sordoni triumphed over fellow attorneys Paul Litwin and Richard Huffsmith, garnering 1,758 votes on the Republican ballot and 843 on the Democratic ticket. Litwin and Huffsmith received 1,402 and 1,578 votes, respectively, on the Republican side, with Huffsmith also capturing 325 votes on the Democratic ballot.

Expressing gratitude for the community’s support, Sordoni stated, “I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to serve both counties.” Relocating to Exeter Township with her husband just months prior to her campaign, Sordoni has deep ties to the region, having grown up in Hazleton and earned her law degree from Villanova University in 2013.

Should she win in November, Sordoni’s salary as county court judge will start at $227,441 in January 2026, with potential increases based on the consumer price index.

This nomination marks a significant stride for Sordoni and a move towards enhancing the legal framework in both counties.
