Introducing Deion DeBlanc: A Warm Welcome to Wyoming Football

Wyoming Cowboys Football Welcomes New Talent Amid Offseason Changes

LARAMIE – In a transformative offseason, the Wyoming Cowboys have added nearly 50 new players, influenced largely by the transfer portal’s impact on college football. After losing key defensive personnel, including all starting linebackers and safeties, head coach Jay Sawvel recognized the need for a defensive overhaul. The departures of pivotal players like Jordan Bertagnole and DeVonne Harris led Sawvel to secure a dozen transfers during February’s signing period, followed by three additional recruits post-spring game.

While the defense underwent significant changes, the offensive lineup remains largely intact. Sawvel noted that key offensive players, including quarterback Kaden Anderson and leading rusher Sam Scott, have chosen to stay. Although the team did lose running back Harrison Waylee to Virginia and wide receiver Justin Stevenson to Utah, the core offense still features strong linemen and returning wide receivers, ensuring stability.

Among the exciting new additions is freshman wide receiver Deion DeBlanc, a 5’10", 186-pound talent from Houston, Texas. This three-star recruit from North Shore High School caught 40 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns during his senior year, showcasing his dual-threat capability on offense and defense. Sawvel expressed excitement over DeBlanc’s competitive nature, stating, “Nobody does that. When he gets the ball on offense, he’ll try to run through you. He loves to play.”

As Wyoming gears up for the 2025 season, fans can look forward to continued updates on new recruits and returning key players. For more news, follow 7220Sports on social media and keep an eye on the Cowboys as they prepare for the coming challenges on the field.
