Wyoming Democratic Party’s New Chairman Aims to Broaden Party Influence

Wyoming Democrats Set Sights on Revitalization Despite Challenges

CHEYENNE, WY – Newly-elected Wyoming Democratic Party Chair, Kyle Fralick, is determined to reinvigorate the state’s Democratic base amidst a Republican-dominated landscape. Fralick’s journey in the Democratic Party began in 2015, attending meetings in Gillette while studying at the University of Wyoming. His leadership skills were recognized when he defeated Evansville Mayor Candace Machado for the state party chair position.

Fralick, who previously served as the National Committeeman, addresses an identity crisis within the National Democratic Party, likening it to challenges faced after significant elections like President Obama’s second victory. "The National Democratic Party really is navigating on its own path," he remarked, emphasizing the need for focused resource allocation to strengthen the Wyoming Democratic Party.

Facing a tough political climate, Fralick plans to strategically target key races and reinforce community engagement. He sees potential for growth in areas like Sweetwater County, Cheyenne, and Laramie. Furthermore, Democratic representatives Karlee Provenza and Trey Sherwood will host workshops to empower residents, which Fralick believes are vital for grassroots activism.

Fralick acknowledges the financial difficulties of the party, reporting a loss of $5,000 monthly in early 2023. To combat these challenges, he plans to form a committee focusing on in-state donors, while also welcoming funds from other Democratic resources.

In an effort to connect with younger Democrats, Fralick aims to strengthen the relationship with groups such as the College Democrats at UW and establish a new Minorities and Allies Caucus. His goal is to create a robust and inclusive party capable of contesting every legislative seat next election cycle.

Fralick’s commitment to revitalizing the Wyoming Democratic Party reflects a hopeful outlook amidst the current political landscape.
