Sheridan High School’s Lady Broncs Softball Team Kicks Off Inaugural Season
SHERIDAN, WY – The Wyoming high school spring sports season began on March 10th, marking a historic moment for Sheridan as the Lady Broncs softball team held its first official practice. This year, Sheridan joins two other new teams, elevating the total number of softball teams in Wyoming to 16 as the sport enters its fifth year at the varsity level.
Head Coach Kristen Czaban expressed optimism about the team’s potential, highlighting the collective experience of the players. “Many of these girls have played travel ball together for years, creating a strong foundation. Although the team is young, I believe we can be very competitive this season,” she stated.
While the Lady Broncs will wear Sheridan High School uniforms, players hail from several surrounding schools, including Big Horn, Tongue River, and Buffalo, thanks to a co-op agreement. Senior Taylin Hatch from Buffalo shared her excitement about the opportunity. “I thought I would never get the chance to represent a high school in Wyoming. Having this team is a dream come true for me,” Hatch remarked, noting the previous challenges of having to travel out of state to play softball.
The Lady Broncs are set to kick off their season with a game in Cheyenne on March 21st, followed by their highly anticipated home opener against Thunder Basin on March 29th. All home games will be held at the Sheridan College softball fields, providing a local venue for fans to support their team in this landmark season.
As the Lady Broncs embark on this new journey, the community is eager to rally behind them, celebrating not just a new team, but a new chapter in Sheridan’s athletic history.
