Drive for Kids: Celebrities Tee Off in Falmouth to Raise Funds for Children Battling Cancer

Celebrities Tee Off for Charity at Drive Fore Kids Tournament in Falmouth, Maine

FALMOUTH, Maine — This weekend, Falmouth Country Club is buzzing with excitement as 33 celebrities, from professional athletes to TV and movie stars, come together for the annual Drive Fore Kids charity golf tournament.

The event, spearheaded by Director Brian Corcoran, aims to raise $200,000 for the Barbara Bush Children’s Center and the Dempsey Center, both of which provide vital support and treatment for children and families battling cancer. Corcoran emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “It’s about making sure that families in need receive the care they require.”

Among the participants is actress Carly Chaikin, known for her role in "Mr. Robot," who expressed her enthusiasm for being part of a meaningful cause. “It’s so much fun being with everybody and being here for an amazing cause,” she shared.

Also joining the tournament is Jon Lester, famed three-time MLB champion and Red Sox pitcher. Resonating with the event’s purpose, Lester noted, “Going through cancer in ’06 and having treatments—I probably wouldn’t be here without the researchers and doctors.” His sentiments were echoed by Chaikin, who stated, “Cancer is in my family, and to have it affect a child is absolutely devastating.”

Highlighting the impact of the organizations are stories like that of McKenzie Barker, a young cancer survivor whose recovery was supported by the Barbara Bush Children’s Center. Her mother, Christie Betney, praised the center’s work, saying, “They’ve done amazing work to help all of these kiddos in our great state of Maine.”

The tournament continues Sunday at 10:15 a.m. with a winner to be announced later that evening. Organizers stress that the spirit of Drive Fore Kids extends far beyond the competition, focusing on the vital aid provided to families in need.
